Analysis on George and lennie's relationship

Lennie and George's relationship in the book Of Mice and Men  is they depend on one another, George is the leader in the relationship, and they look out for one another. In chapter one, when Lennie and George are walking to the ranch for a job Lennie realizes that he forgot his ticket and tells George " I aint got mine. I musta lost it"(5). in response George says "I got both of 'em here. Think I'd let you carry your own work card?"(5). The example shows that Lennie needs George for helping him not loose anything or forget important information. Because Lennie is not as bright as George , he is dependent and relies on George to help him. Also in the relationship, George acts as the leader. When Lennie and George were camping in the woods for the night George says " You gonna get that wood?' George demanded. ' There's plenty right up against the back of the sycamore. Floodwater wood. Now you get it"(10). Looking at his example one can see that George took charge in the situation in who was going to get wood. In the conversation George didn't let Lennie have a say in the matter since he wanted to take matters in his owns hands and make the decision on his own. Lastly, Lennie and George look out for one another. After Lennie is asked if he remembers what to say when they go to the ranch , George tells Lennie that  "if you jus' happen to get in trouble  like you always done before, I want you to come right here an' hide in the bush"(15) From this example one can see that George cares about Lennie and wants to make sure that he will be alright if something bad happens to him. George acts as a care taker for Lennie.The relationship between Lennie and George is a mix of being equal to each other but also of one being in more control than the other.
